A new council-owned £15m entertainment venue in Scunthorpe will be run by the private sector.

The centre is due to open in 2010 on the site of the old Baths Hall.

The council is to invite tenders for an external management company to run the venue after deciding it would minimise the financial risk to the authority.

North Lincolnshire Council leader Mark Kirk said:"An external management company would operate the venue at a lower cost to the council."

He continued: "It will also bring a level of expertise and a range of contacts needed to ensure the new venue is a success."
